Mark Your Calendars!

Looks like Saturday, September 8 will be the big West Coast Atriots' "Meet and Greet" with special guest res ipsa loquiter and maybe the fabulous watertiger (and one other I can't remember)!

Tentatively, I'm thinking meeting in North Beach for coffee and/or drinks - maybe Caffe Treiste or Vesuvio's - followed by cheap eats either in NB or possibly Chinatown, depending on what the mood is.

Any thought, suggestions, or complaints - leave 'em in "comments"!

dave™© - I am about 90% sure I can do this, but I'm in the East Bay and get lost if I have to go more than 2 blocks from a BART station, so I'd vote for someplace easy to find (easy directions). Thanks!!!

I'm going to think about this I agree with putting this by a bart station. I'm thinking Max's Opera Cafe, by the Civic Center bart station. We can get a big table and eat and drink and talk.

Actually, Max's is some distance from Civic Center BART... it's on Van Ness.

BTW, to get to North Beach from BART, get off at Powell Street station, and hop on either the 30-Stockton bus or the Powell Street cable car.

Worth the swest/jetblue trip.
but it would have to be in conjunction with linking up with my daughter who is living in berkeley, and if she can put me up that weekend.
let's see what her schedule is like.

I'll be there Friday afternoon.
If the plane is on time.
And I'll be fashionably jet lagged.
So, where is it?

Dave et.al. - how about something around the Berkeley BART station - there's food and drink a'plenty, and it's a good station for out-of-towners, too - unlike, say, 16th St SF, with the homeless and their needles - hey, give me a break here, I *work* for the damn BART system, okay???

Also, I noted that ErinPDX suggested Oakland's Chinatown - 9th-to 12th St, Broadway region - it's almost as cool as SF Chinatown without the crowds, but you could end up ordering raw baby bee pupae (sp?) if you aren't careful...

Sorry, but I am obviously pro-East Bay... SF is for tourists!

Whatever the group consensus is, though I am now 99.95% likely to be available.

(Dave tm etc. - you rock!!!)

I want to keep Saturday's gathering in SF because res ipsa, watertiger, and jeffco are staying there, and they plan to hit Muir Woods Saturday morning. So for their convenience, I think this will work out best.

However, res ipsa and flory are tentatively planning on meeting me in the East Bay Friday evening, so we could also do an East Bay meet-n-greet then.

Here's a coupla thoughts: in SF on Saturday, we could meet for dinner at Tadich Grill, a real old-SF type place that's a block away from Embarcadero BART. Pre-dinner, we could gather at House of Shields or Dave's, both of which are a few blocks away right off Market.

For North Beach, you can get off BART at Powell and take either the 30-Stockton or the cable car ($5 if you don't have a Muni Pass) and we could meet at Vesuvio's at Broadway and Columbus, right next door to City Lights. Dinner could be any number of places - Capp's Corner, Tommasso's, North Beach Pizza, or in Chinatown, even.

There are any number of cheap taquerias in the Mission we could do.

Any more suggestions are certainly welcome!

Spocko suggested Max's at the Opera, which is a good idea, but not near a BART station (it's on Van Ness).

I'll post maps later of most of these places, but gotta run some errands now...
